Grandma’s Ground Beef Veggie Stew

As a child, we always remember at least one specific smell ,that will always warm our hearts! That’s smell for me is the smell of my grandmas house!!

My Grandmother, was the BEST cook!! She always had all of these hidden recipes, she never measured anything and ALWAYS cooked from the heart. No one was ever a stranger, come one come all.

Over the years, I have tried to master Grams Ground ground beef Stew, but I haven’t quite done so; But I’ve  gotten pretty close. For some reason I think it comes down to using a cast iron skillet, or maybe how she seasoned her pans? Who knows the family mystery will forever be untold.

This is a very easy recipe, we always seem to use it when we are pinching pennies and need a lot to go a long way!

Here is what you will need:

1 1/2 pound of lean ground beef
One medium white onion sliced
5 potatoes chopped into 1 inch cubes.
3 cloves of garlic crushed
3 stalks of celery sliced
1 1/2 cup of baby carrots – Or 3-4 whole carrots pealed and sliced
1 can of green beans
1 can of sweet corn
1 can of diced tomatoes (I used Italian)
2 beef bouillon cubes
8 Quart Crock Pot

Step 1:

On medium heat, combine ground beef, onion and garlic into a sauce pan. Cook thoroughly until ground beef is fully cooked, and onions are translucent.  Also add seasonings to your liking, I added Pepper, Pink Himalayan Salt and Mrs. Dash Original.

Step 2:

While your ground beef is browning, combine all of the additional remaining ingredients to your crock pot. I do not drain the canned corn or the canned green beans. I think it gives it that extra flavor.

Step 3:

Add your cooked ground beef to the top of your veggies.

Step 4:

Add water to your crock pot just enough to cover all of your ground beef and vegetables.

Step 5:

Put it on high for 4-6 hours or until potatoes are tender, or if you are going to be away at work, 8-9 hours on low should be perfect!

From my home to yours. I hope you truly enjoy this recipe its so easy to make and something the whole family can enjoy!
